about

The work starts with a fog horn field recording of the Whitby Lighthouse as an intro for complex sound narrative. It is located on Ling Hill, on the coast to the south-east of Whitby, beyond Saltwick Bay in UK and it was famous for it fog signal horn.

Central cluster of improve sounds are part of my personal archive and are played by French lithophonist Toma Gouband and me in my student home in London (2004). These sounds are picturing our casual improv dialog, but the cluster is surrounded with several phantasmagorical "doors" to equally complex ambiances - the habitat of a strange forest animal living in the Panama Bay, or sounds of the Vrnik Island, a small village like habitat in the South Adriatic.

Each space radiates with uncertainty, emotional confusion and anxiety we store in our subconsciousness every time we face death or circumstances surrounding death like experiences.
Toward the end of the work sound narrative involves a baby snore, uplifting our fears trying to protect innocence.

The work is triggered by events of the Paris Bataclan Massacre in November 2015. Intervention on Clair de Lune excerpt ((Third movement of the Suite Bergamasque by Claude Debussy, a piano depiction of a Paul Verlaine poem)) is a tribute to the great French composer whose works are for over a century part of our collective consciousness //
